Distribution Research- Traditional Model

Distribution is the way a product travels from the producer to the consumer. A magazine can be distributed in several different ways. Through subscriptions, in stores or online. There are two ways to distribute said magazine, either through the traditional model, which involves three levels or direct distribution where the middle man is eliminated. The magazine is created by a company or a producer it is than transferred to a wholesaler and finally to the retailer.  For example South Florida Premium Distribution, is a Florida based company who works as the wholesaler . They work to increase your circulation number and thus increase your revenue  because the greater the circulation number the more you can charge for adds. There are two ways you can make a profit off of a magazine, to either charge for adds or you can charge consumers to buy the product. In our case we have decided to do both but make the magazine very cheap. In this way there will not be as much stress to keep the distribution number up. Our magazine will be sold in the South Florida area as the name suggests. Specifically we wills sell them in grocery stores and sports clothing stores. We will use the South Florida Premium Distribution for this.  In addition we will attend high school sporting events. Since each edition  is  based on one specific sport, the type of sports games we attend will be based on the sport that is featured that month.

Interviews & Questions

While working on developing my interview questions I had to decide what I wanted to write about. Due to the time of year I decided I wanted to write about winter training. A series of intense workouts that aim to make everyone on the team faster on the water. Due to the fact that I am a rower it was hard to ask questions, because I already know the answers to most of them, but I managed to come up with some 1. By your definition what is winter training ? 2. Do you think it is a necessary part of training ? 3. If you had a choice would you choose to winter train? 4. What is your reasoning ? 5. What is the most important part of rowing? 6. What is something that most people don't know about rowing ? I conducted these interviews either before or after practice.

Mid Term Submission

Contrary to the original plan for the Cover Page I changed the color of the font to white to make sure that the Title and Feature Article tittles were visible. In addition in table of contents I used one large picture rather than several small ones. I had to do this in order to fit all of my article titles on the table of contents. When I was creating the template I didn't account for the large number of article titles.

Revision-Cover page

According to my last post the cover page needed to be revised. This includes changing the title from Sota Sports to Soflo Sports. This makes sure that the magazine can have a larger audience and a more realistic chance of being a successful business. In addition I added a border and worked on the cover in Photoshop in order to give it depth in the title and an overall more sporty look.  Finally we changed the font of the feature article titles. In this way the magazine title would pop more.  Final Cover Page  Original Cover Page  Cover Page Template
