Contrary to the original plan for the Cover Page I changed the color of the font to white to make sure that the Title and Feature Article tittles were visible. In addition in table of contents I used one large picture rather than several small ones. I had to do this in order to fit all of my article titles on the table of contents. When I was creating the template I didn't account for the large number of article titles.

This time of year there are not many rowing events happening. But there is a well known rowing venue called Nathan Benderson Park that I plan on using for pictures. In addition I will take the rest of my pictures at the Sarasota Scullers Clubhouse. The team is there almost everyday and although the lighting is far from ideal, it accurately represents the sport. While working on developing my interview questions I had to decide what I wanted to write about. Due to the time of year I decided I wanted to write about winter training. A series of intense workouts that aim to make everyone on the team faster on the water. Due to the fact that I am a rower it was hard to ask questions, because I already know the answers to most of them, but I managed to come up with some 1. By your definition what is winter training ? 2. Do you think it is a necessary part of training ? 3. If you had a choice would you choose to winter train? 4. What is your reasoning ? 5. What is the most important part of rowing? 6. What is something that most people don't know about rowing ? I conducted these interviews either before or after practice.

Today I completed the 90 page Flat Plan. Based on my research the magazines in this genre have about 50 percent ads, therefore my flat plan consists of about 43 ads. There are 4 Posters in the plan, these will be full page photos as found in the rowing magazine I analyzed. For example after the Nathan Benderson Park article there will be a full size picture of the venue and after my feature article there will be  a same size picture of someone erging.   The articles highlighted in red are articles that are found in all editions. Meaning that all group members will have theses pages but they will each pertain to their selected sport. For example my terminology page will introduce and clarify the language of rowing so the reader will better understand the articles throughout the magazine. In addition there is a Senior Spotlight article where in each addition a senior who is going on to compete in college will be featured. Most of the articles are positioned in the center ...

We created the cover template separately from the cover layout and decided to go with the sane font as the cover page  in order to be cohesive. After some discussion we decided not to call the table contents something else, like the lineup, or the batting order (examples we found in our research). This is due to the fact that each of us are focusing on a different sport and the terminology is different. Because the title was placed on the right we decided to counteract this by placing the words for the table of contents on the left and the corresponding pictures off to their right.

The magazine genre we picked was sports, specifically sports in high school. We each chose a sport for our edition, I chose rowing due to the fact that this sport has a large presence in Sarasota and it is something that I am knowledgeable about.  The difficulty with selecting rowing for my edition has to do with the timing. This time of year the fall season has ended, meaning there are no races left to photograph, and training has moved mostly to land so even practices are not an option. Although shots on the water would be ideal, I've decided to use shots I have from past regattas and take pictures of the land workouts. This means that my article will have to deal with what the rowers refer to as "winter training." Due to the fact that I am rower myself and can not take pictures of my team mates and workout. Therefore I will go on an optional practice day, specifically to take pictures. Some pictures from the photoshoot

Due to the fact that we are working in a group we had to decide on a cover layout as a group. To begin with we decided on name " Sota Sports "   because our magazine revolves around sports in high school, specifically in the Sarasota area. We tested out several fonts that look or appear sporty. In other words they resemble the font that is often found on sports jersey's.We decided on a font called Onky, but there was a problem with it, the a in this font looks like an o. First we tried changing fonts but decided this really was the best font for our magazine. So in order to remedy this we took a lower case d and flipped it so it appeared like an a.  As of right now the coloring is black because it has a professional look and we don't want to pic a color that will clash with the cover photo. 

Magazine #5- USA Today Sports Weekly The cover of this magazine utilizes contrasting colors.  Th logo itself contains red and white which pop against a blurred blue background. This makes the cover pop. The subject of the magazine is a football player getting ready to throw the ball. The text on the cover is arranged around the subject which focuses in on him and emphasizes the words. The articles appear towards the middle of the edition, in a place called the feature well. They articles consist of sports related topics and coordinate with the feature tittles found on the cover.  The adds are similar to the one found in the other magazines I have come across in my research. This means that they consist of sports drinks and hygiene products. The table of contents contains pictures and the font is large.  There 958,784 print copies circulating each day. Although USA Today Sports Weekly gives out awards they have not won any themselves.
